At Ascot in West Australia, Mungrup Stud’s Gr3-winning stallion Oratorio (Stravinsky-Express A Smile, by Success Express) added a Group success when 2YO colt Lucky Street (Oratorio-Rumours, by Umatilla) rompled home by 4.5-lengths for trainer Trevor Andrews in the $500,000 Gr2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) for 2YOs, over 2YO fillies Mystic Maid (Patronize-Magical Belle, by Blackfriars) & Snowy Chloe (Alfred Nobel-Special Kiseki, by Special Bond). Lucky Street, who was purchased by his trainer Trevor Andrews for $75,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale from the draft of Mungrup Stud, took his record to 4 wins (including the Listed Perth Stakes & Magic Millions Perth 2YO Classic (LR)) from 5 starts for $609,950 earnings. “I’m just very relieved,” trainer Trevor Andrews told The West Australian. “It’s been a stressful week to make sure everything was right and there were no issues.” He added, “He’s just a super little colt – a great racehorse with a great motor.” Andrews has earmarked the Gr1 Winterbottom Stakes at the end of the year as a suitable target for the talented youngster. “He’ll definitely go to the paddock. I won’t go to the Sires,” Andrews said. “I’d love to run him in the Winterbottom at the end of the year. At weight-for-age, he’ll have 52 kilos on his back.” He added, “Hopefully if we can get a Group 1 next to his name, we can stand him at stud.”
