Exciting Filly All Show gets a wonderful opportunity to claim a key victory after drawing favourably in the $100,000 Crown Perth 3YO Classic (1000m) at Ascot’s season-opening meeting on Saturday.
The Trevor Andrews-trained All Show has landed barrier one in the 11-horse field with Shaun O’Donnell keeping the ride after partnering her to a dominant maiden win last-start.
Andrews has been a big admirer of All Show from early on and that high regard has been franked with the I’m All The Talk daughter flashing big potential in her two visits to the races.
On debut at Ascot in April she made up a stack of ground from the tail of the field and was running on powerfully for a 1 ½ length second to Classic rival Snowdome.
She then displayed her versatility after resuming first-up at Belmont last month when she found the front and kicked clear in the straight to score by a healthy 2 ¼ lengths.
Andrews says All Show is displaying all the right signs to suggest she has a bright future in front of her and from a perfect gate he expects her to be competitive on the weekend.
“She’s always shown us well above average ability,” Andrews told The Races WA.
“They still have to take it to the races and do it, but what she shows us at home and what she can do on the track is quite amazing.
“She’s drawn one again this week and is drawn to get a few favours.
“She went into her last race off a 400m trial because I was chasing my tail a bit.
“She has certainly progressed in fitness with that run under her belt, plus another couple of gallops without a doubt.
“With not a lot of pace last time she was forced to lead, but from her gate she is probably going to get an opportunity to take a nice sit.
“She still needs luck to play its part, but it looks like she will be getting a pretty nice run.
“She’s drawn to get the right run and with luck should run well.”
The barrier gods have also been kind to Andrews’ two-year-old A Lot Of Good Men.
After nice wins in his two trials, A Lot Of Good Men debuts in the Amelia Park Initial Plate (1000m).
“He’s being going super and Paul Harvey rides him,” Andrews said.
“He’ll get a lovely run from barrier two.
“There’s a couple in there with pace so he can get a nice camp on them.
“He’s a good type and a pretty nice horse.”
The opening two-year-old race of the Perth season has assembled a field of eight starters, including Live To Tell, who is ready to go after two top trials.
From the Simon Miller yard that produced last year’s top juvenile Amelia’s Jewel, Live To Tell goes around first-up after a scorching six length trial win over 850m.
“A Lot Of Good Men will keep her honest,” Andrews said.
“I hope he can run a nice race for a bunch of good blokes who are in it.
“There’s 20 guys including Gray Williamson, David Houston from Magic Millions and former jockeys Dennis Gundry and Peter Wildermoth.”
Andrews says he’s looking forward to getting back to Ascot and believes Sneaky Chance and Em Tee Aye are also capable of running well in races seven and 10 respectively.
